Lifehaven Womens Support Society

Our Story

At a time when Lifehaven Executive Director Teresa Trask was a victim services worker with the Abbotsford Police Department, as well as serving as community chaplain to several women's recovery homes in the Abbotsford area, there was a noticeable transitional gap between the time when a woman would complete her addiction recovery program, and when she would begin the process of starting fresh and getting her feet back under her.

During this time of transition many women become overwhelmed with the burdens of re-entering society, where often they don't know where they will live, how they will support themselves and possibly their children, or how they will face difficulties such as mounting debt, a lack of education, etc. It became evident that appropriate, comprehensive support was necessary in order to address these concerns.

This began a conversation between current board members about how we could help bridge the gap and support women during this critical period of transition. As a result, Lifehaven Women's Support Society was formed. This grassroots society currently operates out of a home office, where support services as well as referral services are provided to clients.
